Information

Plettenberg Bay is a beautiful coastal town in the heart of the Garden Route. With two great beaches it is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike in the summer time, but the town is so much more than just a beach destination.

The area in and around Plettenberg Bay is a sports paradise which offers beautiful trails for hikers, cyclist and horse riders. It is also a delight for those who love kayaking in the surrounding rivers or even on the open ocean.

The highlight of the area is definitely the ideal conditions for all facets of watersports, including sailing and breathtaking scuba diving spots. During summer, boat trips can be taken to view the local dolphins and seals. During the winter months, the bay is frequented by the South Right Whale so do not miss out on a great whale watching cruise.

At night, Plettenberg Bay is alive with pubs, night-spots and fine restaurants. A wide range of accommodation offers luxury hotels, exclusive country retreats, cosy bed and breakfasts, self-catering chalets, budget hostels and excellent camping facilities.

The Plett Rage during December months has become an extremely popular institution for matriculants to celebrate their passage from school to further studies or adult life. It is all an well-organised festival and is growing in popularity each year.

Plettenberg Bay is a central point to nearby attractions in areas such as Nature’s Valley, The Crags and Bloukrans. Here you can visit wildlife sanctuaries such as the world-renowned Birds of Eden, Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary and Monkeyland. Or you can get the adrenalin pumping with canyoning and doing the world’s highest commercial bungy jump. Everything is just a short drive away and shuttle services are available if needed.
