Robertson is a town in the heart of Route 62. Surrounded by numerous vineyards and wineries it is picturesque and a great destination for the wine enthusiast. Robertson is home to many award-winning wine estates – you can taste some of the best wine in the country, if not the world, right here. While there are many opportunities for wine tasting in the town itself, it is the nearby wine estates in the valley and next to the river which enchants the most. Nothing beats the experience of tasting wine while looking over the beautiful vineyards and enjoying the sounds of nature.

The town has many interesting shops from local bakeries to curio shops and unique restaurants. When entering from Cape Town (or exiting from the other direction), it is recommended that you stop for a few minutes at the delightful farm stall known as Affie Plaas. Here you will find local dried fruits, local tea varieties and also get to taste their famous sweet pastries which includes milk tart and apple pie.

Located next to a river, there is also opportunity for water-based activities such as canoeing or taking a cruise on the river while enjoying some of the local wine. If you are not looking to get wet, there are interesting hikes and many historic sites you can also visit.

You are never left to your own devices as the locals are very friendly and welcoming, eager to give advice or show you in the right direction should you lose your way. This also resonates in the lovely accommodation options available, where you will be welcomed with a smile and have a very pleasant stay.
